Our Vision
A world where farmers thrive, even as the climate changes.
We give farmers the tools to see the weather as we do — turning uncertainty into foresight so they can minimise their weather risk.
Our Story
Transforming the way farmers manage the weather.
We started CatchmentAI after seeing how regularly forecasts let farmers down. Instances of heavy rain, frost, and high winds were often under-forecasted, sometimes at a serious cost to operations.
We spent months researching why, and found that the problem wasn't the science, but the way the forecasts were shown.
The weather models do generally detect the danger - many of their simulations will forecast heavy rain for a given hour. But that signal disappears in the final forecasts when they average all potential outcomes into one ‘best guess.’
No app was showing the full range of outcomes, or clearly communicating the odds that the worst ones arrive and disrupt farm operations.
We're three Imperial College London alumni with backgrounds in climate science, data, and AI who set out to make this critical information available to farmers. Our experience in research, including a PhD on hydro-meteorological hazards, showed us how much farmers could save when they are supported in taking a risk-based approach to the weather.
Our goal is simple: that our farmers are never ‘caught out’ by the weather again.
